Western Engineering is home to more than 800 graduate students who work collaboratively with professors, fellow students and other stakeholders to discover and develop innovative solutions in Engineering that make both a local and global impact.
Students in the Master’s Qualifying Pathway Option will complete one term of studies at WesternIC and upon successful completion of the term will progress to complete their professional Master of Engineering (MEng) degree at Western University’s Faculty of Engineering.

Program Overview
Students will complete one to two credit-bearing graduate level courses alongside key (non-credit) learning modules in a student-centred and supportive environment. These learning activities prepare students academically and professionally for successful progression in their professional Master of Engineering program.
- The Master’s Qualifying Pathway (MQP) A Option: offers the opportunity to upgrade English Language proficiency and build confidence in preparation for a graduate academic workload. In the first term, students will complete one graduate level course alongside the preparatory learning modules, which will result in an accelerated start of their professional master’s program with 10% of coursework already completed.
- The Master’s Qualifying Pathway (MQP) B Option: offers the opportunity to enhance academic readiness and build confidence in preparation for a graduate academic workload. In the first term, students will complete two graduate level courses alongside the preparatory learning modules, which will result in an accelerated start of their professional master’s program with 20% of coursework already completed.

The Faculty of Engineering at Western University offers the professional Master of Engineering through four different Departments with various technical streams:

Master of Engineering: Master’s Qualifying Pathway (MQP) A Option
Students in the Master’s Qualifying Pathway A Option will complete one term of studies at WesternIC and upon successfully meeting all progression requirements will complete their professional MEng degree at Western University’s Faculty of Engineering.
Students will complete one credit-bearing graduate course alongside key learning modules to build essential skills for success in a competitive cohort throughout their professional master’s program at Western.
The Master’s Qualifying Pathway A will be comprised of:
- One of the following graduate-level courses (0.5 credit):
- EngSci 9110 – Mathematical Methods in Engineering
- EngSci 9210 – Engineering Statistics and Reliability
- EngSci 9310 – Programming for Engineers
- EngSci 9320 – Introduction to Machine Learning
- EngSci9410 – Engineering Materials
- Additional Learning Activity:

- Academic Literacy in Context: Business & Technical Writing

Program Progression Requirements
You will progress to the professional Master of Engineering at Western University with 0.5 credit (1 course) toward your degree upon successful completion of the Master’s Qualifying Pathway A at WesternIC if you meet the following requirements:
- A completion of your graduate level course with a cumulative average of 70% or higher.
- A completion of all Learning Modules with:
- Minimum grade of 70% English Boost + Quantitative Language Module
- Minimum grade of 70% in Category 1 Learning Modules
- Passing Grade in Category 2 Learning Modules
Master of Engineering: Master’s Qualifying Pathway (MQP) B Option
Students in the Master’s Qualifying Pathway B Option will complete one term of studies at WesternIC and upon successfully meeting all progression requirements will progress to complete their professional MEng degree at Western University’s Faculty of Engineering.
Students will complete two credit-bearing graduate courses alongside key learning modules to build essential skills for success in a competitive cohort throughout their professional master’s program at Western.
The Masters Qualifying Pathway B will be comprised of:
- Two of the following graduate-level courses (1.0 credit):
- EngSci 9110 – Mathematical Methods in Engineering
- EngSci 9210 – Engineering Statistics and Reliability
- EngSci 9310 – Programming for Engineers
