Meal Plan
All Western International College students are required to have a meal plan during the fall and winter terms. This will give you access to eight dining halls and a variety of campus eateries to suit a range of dietary needs. So you can focus on your studies, not groceries.
Residence meal plans are not available in the summer (May–August) as residence dining halls are closed. Not to worry, your suite includes a full kitchen and select campus eateries remain open throughout the season.
Student Supports and Community
Starting university is a big transition and Residence is here to support you through it.

Full-time Residence Life Coordinators and upper-year Student Leaders live alongside you, ready to help you settle in and connect you to the right resources. Free, confidential counselling is available exclusively for residence students, and front desk staff in every building are on hand for everyday needs. At residence, you’re not just finding a place to live — you’re joining a community.

Frequently Asked Questions
Am I guaranteed a spot in residence?
If you meet residence eligibility criteria and have received your academic offer, you’re guaranteed a residence spot. Transfer and late‑offer students are welcome to apply but may be placed on a waiting list.W
Roommates are matched using your Residence Placement Questionnaire which captures lifestyle preferences such as study habits and tidiness. You may also request a roommate; requests are given priority when both students follow the roommate request process.
Can I choose my roommate or request suitemates?
Yes! You can request one roommate and in hybrid- or suite‑style buildings, suitemate requests can be made once building placement is confirmed. All requests must meet established criteria to be processed.
How do I get into Residence after my first year?
Upper-year students can apply through the myHousing Portal. Single rooms are guaranteed, with limited spaces available on a first-come, first-served basis. Alumni House and London Hall are popular choices for their independent living experience.
Upper-year and graduate students may also explore Western Apartments. Married students or those with families are not eligible for residence and are encouraged to contact Platt’s Lane Estates. Looking off campus? Western’s Off-Campus Housing website is the go-to resource for students searing for housing in the London community.
What can I have in my Residence room?
