Welcome to the Master of Data Analytics (MDA) Program at Western University!

The Master of Data Analytics (MDA) in Western’s Faculty of Science is a full-time, professional graduate program that prepares students with the technical expertise, professional skills and real-world experience needed to succeed in today’s data-driven workforce.

The MDA program combines advanced coursework, professional skills development and an Experiential Learning Opportunity (ELO), ensuring graduates are equipped to meet the complex analytical challenges across sectors.

Specialty Fields

Students in the Master of Data Analytics program choose one of three Specialty Fields:

Program Overview

Applicants to the Master of Data Analytics may enter the program through one of three pathways:

  • Standard Entry – Complete the program in three terms (12 months)
  • Master’s Qualifying Pathway (MQP) Entry– Complete the program in four terms (16 months)
    • Designed for applicants who meet academic standards for the MDA program but require additional English-language proficiency or are missing one to two undergraduate prerequisite courses. This pathway facilitates a smooth transition into full-time graduate workload.
  • Advanced Graduate Pathway (AGP) Entry – Complete the program in five terms (20 months)
    • Designed for applicants who are missing required undergraduate courses for admission to the MDA program. Students complete three to four prerequisite courses and upgrade English-language proficiency if needed. This pathway provides the academic foundation necessary for success in the program.
