Advanced Graduate Pathway
Advanced Graduate Pathway (AGP) Pathway (5 terms)
This pathway offers the opportunity to complete required prerequisite undergraduate courses, enhance academic readiness in preparation for a graduate academic workload and upgrade English language proficiency, if needed.
In the Advanced Graduate Pathway, (AGP) you will complete two terms of study at Western International College (WesternIC). Upon successfully meeting all progression requirements, you will complete the remaining three terms of your Master of Data Analytics (MDA) program within Western’s Faculty of Science.
Over two terms, you will complete:
- English Boost + Quantitative Language Module (if needed)
- Category 1 & 2 Learning Modules, such as:
- Academic Literacy in Context: Business & Technical Writing
- Collaborative Product Realization Lab
- Communication Skills: Practical and Intercultural Application
- Collaborative Work Environments
- Five to six academic courses, depending on necessary prerequisites and English language level:
- Three to four undergraduate-level courses, as determined by the program
- The following serve as examples of possible required courses*:
- Data Science and Algorithms – CS 2210
- Logic for Computer Science – CS 2209
- Software Tools and Systems Programming – CS2211
- Software Design – CS 4471
- The following serve as examples of possible required courses*:
- Two graduate-level courses, as determined by the program, such as:
- Statistical Modelling I- MDA9159
- Databases I- CS9159
- Three to four undergraduate-level courses, as determined by the program
*Required courses are determined at the time of admission based on the applicant’s academic background.
Program Progression Requirements
You will progress to term three with 1.0 credit (two graduate courses) toward your degree upon successful completion of the AGP at WesternIC if you meet the following requirements:
- Successful completion of undergraduate-level courses with a minimum grade of 75%
- Successful completion of graduate-level courses with:
- A cumulative average of 70% or higher
- A minimum grade of 60% in each course
- Successful completion of all Learning Modules with:
- A minimum grade of 80% in English Boost + Quantitative Language Module (if needed)
- A minimum grade of 70% in Category 1 Learning Modules
- A passing grade in Category 2 Learning Modules
